before we start the more technical aspects of Search engine optimization lets take an overview how searching engines see your website .when you submit your web site to one of the search engines after a while they send their Bot(a special software designed to read WebPages and understand what every page is about ).the bot start read the website pages starting from your home page And walk or crawl (from here come the name crawler ) from one page to anther by following the links. reading the html source code of your website then it starts indexing every word he find and trying to find which words describe better the main subject of your page.

Search bot giving great importance to keywords present in:

1-page titile

2-header tags

3-Link text,Anchor text:

also some search engines give some importance to

discription,keywords meta tags Meta tags.

Seo Page title:

Page title is the text you see in the most upper blue bar in your browser window .Also the text you see when you add the website to favorites and also that title appear as a title of your website in search results in most cases.

So it is very reasonable for search engines to take extreme care about the words present in the page title because they suggest that you will try to arrange your most valuable keywords in this phrase.

How to write your page title??

First rule it should be between 30-60 characters.

Page title is short so avoid using many general nonspecific words that ignored by search engines.

Avoid putting your full domain name in your page title it is not important to user and search engines already know it so you just loosing some precious words with no good reason.

Put the important keywords first if you can and you can repeat a word or two once for each but takes care not to make it look bad for users if Google visitors didn’t find it sexy enough they just won’t click it.

Where can you find this title tag in your html markup of your page?

Look for the head html tag in the top of your page you must find the title tag inside head tag.

Seo Descriptions META tag:

It is one of the Meta tags that located inside the head tag .Meta tags function is to give some information or instructions to the browser or the search engine Bot. Description Meta tag is simply giving a brief description of the page contents. We was thinking taht google is giving some imporance to the words present in this tag but now many authors say that it is not true.This don’t mean that this tag is not important because many search engines like google use this tag to discripe your site to thier visitors. if it is not attractive peoble won’t click to see your site .

how to write Description Meta tag??

Use the same rules mentioned above in page title but Description Meta Tag is just longer than page title it should be between 200-250 character .

Content=”An overview of the impact several ASP.NET page life cycle issues and its effect on performance,and how to avoid performance problems.”

Name=”description” >

Seo keyword Meta tag:

This tag is not supported by Google at all but it is supported by some other search engines .it is almost the same as description Meta tag except that it is only a group of comma separated words or phrases.

Using header tags in seo:

Unlike the previous tags,header tags are present in the body section of the page. Header tags are an html tag used to identify the paragraph headers inside the page. Start from H1 THEN H2,H3,H4,H5,H6. H1 is the largest in text size and H2 tag is smaller and so on. You should put one H1 tag in each page then H2 tag for each page section;under each H2 tag you can put H3 tags for each subsection and so on till H6 if you need. Search engine consider H1 tag as the most important place on the page content and best part that describe the page content so the keywords present in H1 tags is considered very important. Subsequently H2 and H3 and so on.

Link text,Anchor text seo:

Anchor text or link text is also considered one of the most important places for search engine to understand what the page is about because they suggest that you describe the page you linking to in the most interesting way to your visitors in this link text. So please stop putting “click here >>” or “read more >>” phrases as link text you must put words that describe the page you linking to.

Search engine don’t read the text written inside image links,iframes,flash objects links and Script generated links so using these links extensively will give you a nice look but is not a very good practice from the Search engine optimization point of view. (We will discuss this point in details later)

Text content of the page –keyword density

You should repeat the keywords you want to target the page for,as much as possible in the content of your page without annoying the user or make the page looks tricky or breaks the flow of your paragraphs. Also you have to know that search engine hates over repeating of the keyword and may penalize you if you are making a page that is targeted mainly for the search engines or just a page to collect traffic. Ok I know you need a number here let’s say you must have about 3% to 5% density for each keyword (We will describe the illegal Search engine optimization techniques that may make your site penalized searching engines in the last article of this series ). Search engines also giving a higher importance to words that have a different color,Words on bulleted list and words with strong text (bold)

Write a good unique content:

Search engines are text based they like good,keyword rich and unrepeated unique content. So you must have as much good text as you can in your site. Also you have to know that Google software have its ways to know if the user liked your page or not. So keep it useful interesting or fun to your users.

Search engines don’t read text inside these areas:

Flash objects like banners and flash controls.

Images.

Iframes.

Client side script generated text.

So don’t depend on them.
